The Sent(a)Mental Project is a collection of creative works about, by, or for individuals or groups affected by suicide. The goal of this memorial project is to bring visibility and awareness to those lost within the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersexed, queer, and allied (GLBTIQA) community to suicide and mental health. The project provides and opportunity and safe space for psychiatric and suicide survivors to have their voices heard as well as loved ones share the stories of those who have been lost.
Library hours are Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 9:00pm, Friday 7:30am to 2:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am to 2:00pm.
Location: Chandler Gilbert Community College Library 2626 East Pecos Road Chandler, AZ
This a new addition to the Sent(a)Mental Project - A Memorial to GLBTIQA Suicides. This does not replace the previous calls for submissions... but can be an additional submission or simply a way for those people who do not feel they are in a place that they can create and complete a larger piece for the project.
If you have lost someone to suicide, had someone close to you attempt suicide, or have attempted suicide yourself please send a random photo of yourself and/or the persons who have attempted or that you have lost (together or separate) to be used in an ongoing photo series collected by artist Dylan Scholinski (founder/witness of Sent(a)Mental Studios). These photos will become part of the Sent(a)Mental Project – A Memorial To GLBTIQA Suicides and will be collected and displayed at all showings of the SAM Project. The mission of this particular part of the SAM Memorial Project is to begin to represent the community surrounding and affected by suicide.
Important Things to include with any submission:
Please include the name you would like to be listed, if any, with the submission. If no name is listed the pieces will be listed as “anonymous” by default. Photos cannot be larger than 8x10. Also include or send $5-$20 for your submission to cover framing and processing. Give more or less if you can or cannot... i basically trust people to pay what they can and to help support the project if and when they can. Dylan typically looks for old abandoned thrift store frames and happily accepts donations of money and/or frames. Sent(a)Mental Studios is a Non-Funded Project and only survives on the kindness and support of others.

Among its nearly 300 entries is Gender Identity Disorder (GID), a diagnosis applied to every transgender person who enters the healthcare system. IN THE LIFE looks at the battles being waged within the psychiatric and transgender communities over whether to reform or eliminate GID as a diagnosis, and the implications for transgender healthcare.
